Tools and tips to help your parent-teacher organization throughout the year.

About This PTO Mom

My name is Emilie and my kids go to a small, parochial school in Cincinnati, OH. It’s actually where my husband and his father went to elementary school as well, which is pretty cool. I am not actually from Cincinnati – so joining this community that was already pretty tight-knit felt a bit daunting. By a funny twist of fate, I wound up having never even attended a PTO meeting to being the Vice President of the organization when my eldest was in second grade! I was shocked. My husband was not.

But as fate would have it, it was the perfect time for me to jump in and leave my mark. After years of unknowns with the pandemic, we were ready to reorganize and jump back into action.

Luckily, past PTO Presidents had maintained a “timeline” so I wasn’t starting from scratch.

I worked to create incorporate fresh ideas and initiatives that had the right mix of simple and informative, engaging but clean, re-creatable but not overdone templates to communicate with our community. Now that my PTO presidency has come and gone, I would really love to share these tools and what I’ve learned about PTO’ing.

*Judge me kindly on the Coca Cola in my eldest’s hand…Versaille while still jet-lagging was ambitious.
